Gendercide--20th and 21st century genocide (extra credit)

"Never again" said the Jews (and many others) about the Holocaust. However, there have been many such tragedies in the 20th and 21st centuries, some of them going on right now. Please take a look at the "case studies" on the Gendercide site (look at the case study drop down menu on the right hand side of the page). Choose one of the studies (or one of the articles on the main page), and comment here on that article/case study. In what way does the information on this site help justify the 20th century's nickname "The Age of Violence" or the 21st century's nickname "The Age of Stupidity"?

  1. I was looking at the case study regarding the Jewish Holocaust and found that it clearly justifies both the nicknames "Age of Violence" and "Age of Stupidity." It justifies the 20th century nickname because of the acts of terror and violence that were done unto the Jewish population. Because of their religion, Jews were placed into concentration camps and forced into hard labor. While they may have never done anything wrong while in the camps, Jews were put into gas houses and killed or placed into buildings and burned alive. Other times, Jews were forced to dig their own grave and were shot into them. This act of violence was brought on by the stupidity of the German leader, Adolf Hitler. He believed that those of the Jewish religion were unclean and also believed that Jews were "un-human." This stupidity brought about millions of deaths directly related to the subject matter and countless more brought about indirectly by the Holocaust.

  2. "Age of Violence" & "Age of Stupidity" are both perfect ways to describe the Holocaust. The holocaust, I believe, was the single handed worst human to human treatment in the entire world. The way the Germans treated the Jews is just flat out disturbing. The worst part about it all is the Jews where innocent people slauderd because of their faith. During the holcaust Jews were forced to flee their homes and were put in concentration camps. Upon arrival at these camps some people where immediately sent into gas chambers or crematoriums. Others where forced to work until death.
